Political tensions reached a boiling point in Jalpaiguri as BJP candidate Anantadeb Adhikari faced a wave of intense protests during his election campaign. Following a similar incident in Garalbari, the candidate was once again cornered by angry locals in the Bhujaripara area, turning the locality into a virtual battlefield.

Despite a significant police presence, the situation spiraled out of control as protesters engaged in a heated war of words and slogans with BJP supporters. The agitated villagers questioned the candidate on long-pending local issues and his alleged absence from the constituency. The confrontation escalated rapidly, forcing the police to intervene and form a human chain to protect the candidate.

Although Adhikari managed to continue his movement under heavy security, the recurring protests have cast a shadow over his campaign trail. While the BJP leadership has labeled these incidents as “politically motivated attacks” by the opposition, local residents claim it is a spontaneous outburst of public frustration.
