West Asia Conflict: PM Modi to Hold Virtual Meet with CMs Tomorrow; Bracing for Long-term Global Fallout

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Chief Ministers via video conferencing on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 6:30 PM to assess the impact of the ongoing West Asia crisis. Drawing parallels to the Covid-19 pandemic, the PM noted that the repercussions of this conflict could linger for a long time, requiring proactive coordination between the Centre and States.
The meeting will prioritize energy security, particularly the supply of LPG and crude oil, which has been hit by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. PM Modi is expected to urge states to prevent hoarding and black marketing of essential goods. Notably, Chief Ministers of five poll-bound states—West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Puducherry—will be absent due to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). For these states, a separate briefing will be conducted for Chief Secretaries via the Cabinet Secretariat to ensure administrative readiness without violating electoral norms.
