Studying on Hospital Floors to UPSC Success: Nikhil Dwivedi Cracks CAPF to Fulfill Promise to Cancer-Striken Mother!

Proving that unwavering determination can overcome even the most formidable adversities, Nikhil Dwivedi has scripted an extraordinary tale of resilience and success. Studying on hospital floors while his mother battled cancer, Nikhil held onto a promise he made to her—to become an officer. That promise was fulfilled in triumph as he secured All India Rank (AIR) 94 in the prestigious UPSC Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) examination.

After graduating from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Nikhil moved to Delhi in February 2022 with dreams of becoming an Assistant Commandant. However, within days of his arrival, tragedy struck when his mother was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer. Putting his personal comfort aside, he rushed back home to take charge of his mother’s chemotherapy sessions and his younger brother’s education.

During his mother’s painful chemotherapy cycles, Nikhil would sit on the cold floor outside the hospital ward, studying PDF notes on his laptop. He turned every waiting hour with doctors into productive study sessions. Once his mother’s condition stabilized, he returned to Delhi with renewed vigor. To maximize study time, he swapped his comfortable bed for a floor mat and limited his sleep strictly to six hours.

When his physical efficiency test approached after passing the written exams, Nikhil suffered another devastating blow—the death of his grandfather. Grief-stricken yet undeterred, he continued his daily running drills, taking fitness guidance from his father, a former police constable. His relentless perseverance eventually bore fruit as he clinched AIR 94 to become an Assistant Commandant. Upon receiving his result, Nikhil stood proud and saluted his mother first, bringing tears of joy to her eyes. Nikhil’s journey remains a shining beacon of hope for aspirants fighting against all odds.
