The RG Kar doctor rape-and-murder case has hit a fresh turning point following a significant directive from the Calcutta High Court. Justice Rajasekhar Mantha has granted CBI the clearance to re-interrogate convict Sanjay Roy and other suspects using advanced technology. The court observed that Sanjay Roy might hold crucial information that is yet to be uncovered.

Reflecting this judicial development, the social media poll on the show ‘Ghantakhanek Sange Suman’ witnessed an overwhelming response. On YouTube, a staggering 95% of respondents voted ‘Yes’ to the question: “Should the RG Kar investigation be started afresh?” Only 4% voted ‘No’, while 2% remained undecided.

This legal shift coincided with PM Narendra Modi’s sharp criticism of the state government over the RG Kar issue during his election campaign. The High Court also questioned the state’s objection to the victim’s parents visiting the crime scene. All eyes are now on the next hearing scheduled for May 12.
