450 Mobiles Stolen at PM Modi’s Rally! Massive Protests Erupt in Asansol

A massive security lapse was reported at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting at Polo Ground, Asansol, where approximately 450 mobile phones, wallets, and gold chains were allegedly stolen. The incident triggered a high-voltage protest as BJP supporters picketed the Hirapur Police Station late Thursday night.
BJP workers claimed they caught 10 thieves red-handed and handed them over to the police, but alleged that officers refused to register theft complaints, insisting they be filed as “missing” reports. Candidate Agnimitra Paul joined the protesters, accusing the police of non-cooperation. One victim, Jhulan Maji, shared that despite informing officers immediately, no swift action was taken.
The Trinamool Congress took a swipe at the incident, with candidate Malay Ghatak stating, “The theft of 450 mobiles proves what kind of crowd attends BJP rallies.” Meanwhile, Hirapur Police confirmed that an investigation is underway and several devices have already been recovered.
