No Voter ID Card? No Problem! Here are 12 Alternative Documents You Can Use to Vote!

With the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 around the corner, many citizens are concerned about misplaced or damaged Voter ID cards (EPIC). However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has provided a major relief for such voters. As per the latest guidelines, you can still cast your vote even if you do not possess a physical Voter ID card, provided your name is registered in the official Electoral Roll.

To facilitate easy voting and prevent any citizen from being left out, the ECI has authorized 12 alternative photo identity documents that can be presented at the polling station:

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. PAN Card
  3. Driving License
  4. Indian Passport
  5. Passbook with photograph (issued by Bank or Post Office)
  6. MNREGA Job Card
  7. Pension Document (with photograph)
  8. Service ID Cards issued by Central/State Govt/PSUs
  9. Health Insurance Smart Card (issued under Ministry of Labour schemes)
  10. Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs
  11. Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR
  12. Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card

It is crucial to remember that a “Photo Voter Slip” is not accepted as a stand-alone identity proof for voting. It only serves as information for the voter. Before heading to the booth on April 23rd or 29th, ensure that your name is present in the final voter list and carry any of the above-mentioned documents to exercise your constitutional right.
