NHAI Toll Hike: Driving to Get Costlier from April 1st, Check the New Rates Here!

Commuters traveling through national highways are in for a financial jolt as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a revision in toll rates for the upcoming financial year. According to a notification issued by the NHAI’s Kolkata Regional Office, the cost of traveling on highways will see an upward trend starting from April 1, 2026.

The Cost of the Hike For those who rely on annual passes for their daily commute, the price hike is direct and immediate. The current rate for an annual pass, which stands at 3,000, will be hiked to 3,075 effective from April 1st. This 75 increase is part of the annual revision process managed by NHAI, based on inflationary trends and maintenance requirements of the highway infrastructure.

Impact on Logistics and Daily Life While the hike might seem marginal for individual car owners, it is expected to have a cumulative effect on the logistics sector. Increased toll expenses often translate into higher transportation costs for essential goods, which could eventually lead to a slight rise in market prices. The Kolkata region, being a major hub for trade, is likely to feel the heat of this revision.

What Should Commuters Do? With the new rates kicking in from the start of the financial year, FASTag users are advised to ensure their accounts are sufficiently funded to accommodate the revised charges. NHAI officials have stated that the updated pricing will be automatically integrated into the electronic toll collection system at all plazas across the region.
