Ishan Kishan Out Again! BCCI Releases Urgent Injury Update Ahead of Wellington Showdown!

In a major setback for Team India amidst their dominant campaign against New Zealand, dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been officially ruled out of the upcoming third T20I match in Wellington. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a formal medical update on Monday, confirming that the hard-hitting left-hander needs additional recovery time following a muscle strain suffered during the series opener.
Kishan missed the second T20I due to the same injury, paving the way for young prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the playing XI. According to the BCCI statement, Kishan is responding well to rehabilitation under the careful supervision of the board’s medical staff. However, the management has decided against rushing him back onto the field until he achieves 100% match fitness, rendering him unavailable for the clash scheduled on October 27.
Despite Kishan’s absence, India comfortably holds a 2-0 lead in the ongoing five-match T20I series. Promising keeper-batter Kumar Kushagra will continue to remain with the Indian squad as Kishan’s designated cover. Meanwhile, the visiting New Zealand side is encountering its own set of roster issues. Speedster Lockie Ferguson remains unavailable for the third fixture, while veteran pacer Matt Henry has been rested for the remainder of the T20I series to prepare for the upcoming ODIs. The Kiwis have drafted Blair Tickner into their squad as a replacement.
