‘Get Lost!’ TMC MPs Allegedly Insulted by Election Commission; High Drama as Mamata Files Nomination

The political temperature soared on Wednesday as Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination for the Bhowanipore constituency, while her party colleagues engaged in a fierce showdown with the Election Commission in New Delhi.

Accompanied by Firhad Hakim and local councilors, the Chief Minister left her Kalighat residence at 10:30 AM. Thousands of supporters lined the streets of Alipore to catch a glimpse of the leader, turning the nomination process into a massive show of strength. However, the mood in the national capital was far from celebratory.

A TMC delegation, including Derek O’Brien, Sagarika Ghosh, and Saket Gokhale, visited the Election Commission to protest the removal of 27 lakh names from the voter list under the SIR process. Post-meeting, Derek O’Brien made a sensational claim, alleging that Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar told the delegation to “Get Lost” and ordered them out of the office. This reported hostility has sparked a massive political controversy, with the TMC accusing the poll body of being partisan and disrespectful toward the opposition while the election heat continues to rise.
