From ‘Negative’ to ‘Chhabiwala’, Makers Rename Film to Honor Late Actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee

The Bengali film industry remains in mourning following the shocking demise of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. Amidst this grief, director Bappa is set to release Rahul’s final cinematic work. In a heart-touching gesture, the producers have announced their wish to screen the film for free as a tribute to the late actor, seeking cooperation from hall owners.

Originally titled ‘Negative,’ the film was renamed ‘Chhabiwala’ to honor Rahul’s legacy. Coincidentally, the plot revolves around an undervalued photographer named Vishwakarma, played by Rahul, whose talent is recognized only after his tragic end. The haunting parallel between the film’s climax—where his character drowns—and the actor’s sudden departure has left the cast and crew devastated. Starring Deblina Dutt, Sreelekha Mitra, and Rana Basu Thakur, with soul-stirring vocals by Rupam Islam, ‘Chhabiwala’ stands as a final, poignant salute to a brilliant artist who left us too soon.
