India Extends Vital Fuel Support to Crisis Hit Sri Lanka

In a significant move to support its neighbor, India has supplied 38,000 tonnes of fuel to Sri Lanka to mitigate its energy crisis. The Indian High Commission in Colombo confirmed on Saturday that the consignment includes 20,000 tonnes of diesel and 18,000 tonnes of petrol. This assistance follows a recent high-level telephonic discussion between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake regarding bilateral cooperation.
The timely delivery of fuel reflects India’s commitment to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy during challenging times. This humanitarian gesture is expected to provide much-needed relief to the citizens of the island nation and stabilize essential services. By ensuring a steady supply of energy resources, India continues to strengthen its strategic partnership and promote regional stability across South Asia.
