Yash’s Ravana Not Just a Villain? Nitesh Tiwari Reveals Bold New Perspective for ₹4000Cr ‘Ramayana’

Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated cinematic retelling of ‘Ramayana’ is set to redefine the mythological genre with a staggering budget of approximately ₹4,000 crore. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the director shared that his version of Ravana will transcend the traditional “villain” stereotype, focusing instead on the multifaceted nature of the character.

According to Tiwari, Ravana was an exceptional scholar, a skilled musician, a devoted King, and a fierce devotee of Lord Shiva. “It is crucial to show all facets of Ravana because his story holds a profound lesson. No matter how gifted you are, revenge and ego eventually lead to downfall,” the director stated.

The film features Kannada superstar Yash as Ravana, while Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. The star-studded cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the epic is planned as a two-part saga. The first installment is slated for a Diwali release this year, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027, promising a visual spectacle never seen before in Indian cinema.
