Amid the global hysteria that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will lead to mass unemployment, former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has offered a much-needed perspective of hope. Rajan argues that technological shifts, like the Industrial Revolution or the rise of the internet, have historically increased human productivity rather than destroying jobs.

He emphasized that the fear of losing work by 2028 can be mitigated through “reskilling.” Instead of routine tasks, humans will focus on higher-value, creative, and personalized roles that AI cannot replicate. Rajan hopes that instead of being intimidated, people will invest in education and skills to stay ahead of the curve.
