Locals near the Beli Bridge site on the Khulna-Mongla highway described the scene as the most horrific they had ever witnessed. The wedding party was just 15 kilometers away from their destination in Shelabunia village, where friends and family were waiting to welcome the newlyweds. Instead of celebrations, the village is now blanketed in grief. Katakhali Highway Police Officer-in-Charge, Jafar Ahmed, confirmed that the bodies were handed over to the families without autopsy upon request.
