Wedding joy turns to tragedy, 14 killed in horrific road accident in Bagerhat

The joyous journey of a wedding party turned into a nightmare in Bagerhat, Bangladesh, after a microbus collided with a naval staff bus, claiming the lives of 14 people. Among the victims were four children, including two infants under the age of two. Their pacifiers, left scattered near the debris, remain silent witnesses to the devastating loss of life.

Locals near the Beli Bridge site on the Khulna-Mongla highway described the scene as the most horrific they had ever witnessed. The wedding party was just 15 kilometers away from their destination in Shelabunia village, where friends and family were waiting to welcome the newlyweds. Instead of celebrations, the village is now blanketed in grief. Katakhali Highway Police Officer-in-Charge, Jafar Ahmed, confirmed that the bodies were handed over to the families without autopsy upon request. The broken glass and scattered footwear on the road serve as a haunting reminder of a day that was supposed to be filled with laughter, now replaced by an unbearable, unexpected silence.
