The ongoing standoff between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Election Commission of India reached a boiling point in New Delhi on Wednesday morning. A high-level TMC delegation, including Rajya Sabha MPs Derek O’Brien, Sagarika Ghosh, and legal expert Menaka Guruswamy, visited the Election Commission headquarters to raise concerns regarding upcoming polls and agency misuse.

However, the meeting took a dramatic turn when the delegation stormed out of the office, visibly enraged. Speaking to the media, Derek O’Brien made the shocking claim that the TMC MPs were explicitly “asked to leave” the premises. “We went there to represent our grievances, but we were treated with utter disrespect and told to exit,” a furious O’Brien alleged. The party has accused the Chief Election Commissioner of bias and failing to provide a fair hearing to the opposition. This unprecedented confrontation has added a fresh layer of tension to the political landscape, as the TMC prepares to escalate the matter further.
