War Clouds Loom: PM Modi Calls Urgent Meeting with CMs Tomorrow to Assess India’s Readiness

As the conflict in West Asia escalates into a full-scale regional war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving no stone unturned to safeguard India’s national interests. The Prime Minister is scheduled to chair a high-level virtual meeting with Chief Ministers of all States and Union Territories tomorrow, Friday, at 6:30 PM. This interaction follows a series of emergency briefings, including a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting and an all-party meet chaired by the Defence Minister.
The primary agenda of the meeting is to ensure synergy between the Centre and States under the ‘Team India’ framework. With the critical Strait of Hormuz blocked due to the Iran-Israel hostilities, India’s energy security is under direct threat. PM Modi is expected to urge state governments to monitor the supply of essential commodities, especially LPG and petroleum products, to prevent panic buying and hoarding. He has already cautioned the Parliament that the ripples of this war could linger much longer than anticipated, necessitating a robust long-term mitigation plan.
Beyond the economy, the internal security dimension will be a key focus. The Home Ministry has flagged concerns regarding potential cyber-attacks and threats to strategic installations amid global instability. While the Chief Ministers of poll-bound states like West Bengal and Tamil Nadu will not attend due to the Model Code of Conduct, their Chief Secretaries will be briefed separately to ensure a unified national response. The meeting aims to formalize an integrated roadmap that ensures India remains resilient and self-reliant even as global supply chains crumble under the pressure of war.
