Wall War Begins: TMC Gains Early Edge in North Dumdum Election Campaign

Even before the Election Commission officially announces the polling dates, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has shifted into high gear for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. In a display of organizational preparedness, the ruling party has launched an aggressive wall-writing campaign in North Dumdum, the constituency of State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya.

Interestingly, while the walls are adorned with slogans and artwork, the space reserved for the candidate’s name remains blank. Party workers explain that this is a proactive measure to manage limited time once the election schedule is finalized. They emphasize that they are awaiting a formal announcement from party supremo Mamata Banerjee, ensuring discipline by not pre-empting the leadership’s choice.

Contrastingly, the opposition parties—BJP and CPI(M)—have yet to start their campaign, with many of their old, faded wall writings still visible. Political analysts believe that elections are won not just by strong candidates, but by robust grassroots machinery. By outpacing opponents in the battle for public visibility, the TMC is demonstrating superior organizational control. It remains to be seen whether this early-mover advantage translates into tangible electoral success once the official polls are declared.
