Typo in Your Comment? Instagram Rolls Out ‘Edit’ Feature with 15-Minute Window

Instagram has officially introduced a long-awaited feature allowing users to edit their comments instead of deleting them. This new tool, similar to Facebook’s edit function, provides a 15-minute window for users to fix typos or modify their remarks after posting.

Key Features of the Update: * Time Limit: Users can edit a comment as many times as they want within the first 15 minutes of posting.

  • Transparency: An “Edited” tag will appear next to the comment to notify others of the change, though the edit history will remain hidden.
  • Scope: Currently, the feature applies only to text comments. If a comment contains media, only the text portion can be modified.

While this feature enhances user experience, Meta has also announced a controversial change: the removal of default ‘end-to-end encryption’ on Instagram starting May 8. Although experts suggest the privacy risk might be minimal, the decision has sparked concerns among privacy advocates worldwide. For now, users can enjoy the convenience of flawless commenting on their favorite posts.
