Tollywood in Turmoil: Actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s Death Sparks Outrage Against Producers

The tragic demise of popular actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee during a shoot in Odisha’s Talsari has ignited a firestorm within the Bengali television industry. Rahul allegedly drowned while filming for the serial ‘Bhole Baba Paar Karega.’ While the West Bengal Motion Picture Artist Forum demanded a neutral probe, its unsigned and unstamped statement drew sharp criticism from actors like Jeetu Kamal and Sudipa Chatterjee, who accused the forum of being ineffective and mere “image-cleansing.”
In response, the production house, Magic Moments, led by Leena Ganguly, issued an 11-point clarification. They claimed that all safety protocols were followed and that Rahul was reportedly alive when rescued. Leena Ganguly has expressed her willingness to resign as the Chairperson of the State Commission for Women to ensure a transparent investigation. However, inconsistencies in witness accounts and the alleged delay in medical attention have led many to suspect foul play or gross negligence. To demand justice for Rahul, the industry fraternity has called for a massive protest rally at Technicians’ Studio this Saturday at 4 PM.
