Stock Market Rollercoaster! Sensex and Nifty Start Red, Seesawing Amid Extreme Volatility

The Indian stock market opened on a nervous note this Monday, March 16, following Friday’s massive sell-off. Both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 began the session in the red, with the Sensex dropping 148 points to open at 74,415. However, within minutes, the market witnessed sharp fluctuations, and by 9:20 AM, the Sensex managed to crawl back into the green, trading 58 points higher at 74,622.

While ITC, Tata Steel, and Kotak Bank emerged as top gainers, heavyweights like Adani Ports and Mahindra & Mahindra faced significant selling pressure. This volatility comes on the heels of Friday’s bloodbath where the Sensex plummeted by over 1,470 points. Analysts suggest that while there is a slight recovery in the early hours, the overall sentiment remains cautious as the market tries to stabilize after a volatile week.
