In a move that has stirred the political and medical circles of Kolkata, a renowned Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. P.K. Hazra, has announced a unique discount for his patients. Practicing at his private chamber in the Ballygunge Phari area, Dr. Hazra is offering a ₹500 reduction in consultation fees for anyone who chants “Jai Shree Ram” upon arrival.

The doctor’s standard fee was recently revised from ₹2,000 to ₹1,500. With this new announcement, patients following the ritual will only have to pay ₹1,000. Dr. Hazra, an ardent supporter of PM Narendra Modi, defended his decision by stating it is a philanthropic gesture to make healthcare more affordable. He has even displayed posters with a QR code and party-themed attire in his clinic.

While the doctor has hinted at a future in active politics under the BJP banner, the TMC has strongly condemned the act, calling it a politically motivated move to polarize patients. Despite the debate, reports suggest that at least three patients availed of the discount on the very first day. The offer is strictly limited to his private chamber and does not apply to corporate hospitals.
