R.N. Ravi Sworn in as West Bengal Governor; A New Chapter Begins

R.N. Ravi was officially sworn in as the new Governor of West Bengal on Thursday at a formal ceremony held at Lok Bhavan. The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Paul. The event was attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, senior Left Front leader Biman Bose, BJP’s Anirban Ganguly, and several top administrative officials.

Following the swearing-in, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a warm, personal meeting with the Governor and his wife, presenting them with traditional shawls and ‘uttariyas’ as a mark of respect. The two engaged in a long conversation, with the Chief Minister wishing the new Governor success in his tenure.

Though the Chief Minister left before the tea session, the meeting was viewed as a highly significant gesture of political courtesy. Observers believe that the smooth transition and the initial cordial interaction between the CM and the new Governor could pave the way for better coordination between the state government and Raj Bhavan in the days to come.
