Passport Row Escalates! Assam Police Reach Pawan Khera’s Delhi Residence Over Allegations

Just days before the crucial April 9 polls in Assam, a major political storm has erupted involving Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma. On Tuesday, a team of Assam Police reached the Delhi residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera to question him regarding his recent explosive claims. While the police waited at his Nizamuddin house, Khera was reportedly not at home.
The controversy began when Khera alleged in a press conference that Riniki Sarma holds three foreign passports—from the UAE, Antigua & Barbuda, and Egypt. He further accused her of owning undisclosed properties in Dubai and a firm in the US, demanding the cancellation of her nomination for withholding information from the Election Commission.
Refuting the claims, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma termed them “fake and politically motivated,” alleging that the Congress is sourcing misinformation from Pakistani social media groups. Riniki Sarma has formally filed an FIR against Khera, stating that since India doesn’t allow dual citizenship, the claim of having three passports is absurd. With the state going to the polls in less than 48 hours, this legal and political standoff has taken center stage in the electoral battle.
