‘No Respect for Democracy or Law’: JP Nadda Slams Mamata Banerjee in Parliament Over President Murmu Row
BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda launched a blistering attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Parliament today. Raising the issue of the alleged protocol breach during President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to West Bengal, Nadda asserted that the CM has “zero respect for democracy and no regard for the law of the land.”
Nadda’s Fierce Speech in Parliament Speaking during the ongoing session, Nadda accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of consistently undermining the highest constitutional office of the country. “It is deeply unfortunate that a Chief Minister thinks she is above the Constitution. Disrespecting a tribal woman President is not just an insult to the individual but to the entire nation and the democratic values we stand for,” Nadda thundered amidst protests from TMC MPs.
The Genesis of the Conflict The controversy stems from President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to North Bengal for an International Santal Conference. The President herself had expressed disappointment over the absence of the Chief Minister and senior ministers during her reception. While Mamata Banerjee denied any protocol breach and accused the BJP of using the President’s office for political gains ahead of the assembly polls, Nadda used the floor of the House to label the TMC government as “undemocratic.” He challenged the TMC to stop lecturing the nation on the Constitution when they cannot uphold the basic dignity of the Head of State.
