Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, issued a stern clarification on Thursday regarding the circulating rumors of a fuel crisis in the country. Addressing the media, the Minister categorically stated that India has absolutely no shortage of fuel and possesses more than adequate stocks of crude oil to meet the national demand. He urged the public to ignore baseless rumors and refrain from panic-buying at petrol pumps, which often leads to artificial local shortages.

The Minister’s statement comes in the wake of growing concerns over global supply chain disruptions caused by ongoing international conflicts. Rumors of an impending fuel drought had triggered anxiety among commuters and transport operators, leading to unusually long queues at filling stations in several states. Mr. Puri emphasized that India’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves are robust and that the government is closely monitoring the logistical aspects of fuel distribution across the country.

“Our oil marketing companies are well-equipped and have sufficient inventories to maintain a steady supply,” Minister Puri remarked. He further highlighted that India has successfully diversified its oil procurement strategy, ensuring that the domestic market remains insulated from extreme global volatility. The Ministry of Petroleum is in constant touch with state authorities to ensure that petrol, diesel, and LPG reach every corner of the country without delay. By dismissing the misinformation, the Minister sought to restore confidence in the nation’s energy security, affirming that the government remains committed to providing affordable and accessible fuel to all citizens.
