Mayor Firhad Hakim’s Race Against Time: 60% of ‘Paara Samadhan’ Pending Tasks to be Finished in One Month!

In a significant move to boost civic infrastructure ahead of the upcoming polls, Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim has issued a stern ultimatum regarding the state government’s flagship project, ‘Amader Paara Amader Samadhan’ (Our Neighborhood, Our Solution). During a high-level review meeting, it was revealed that only 40% of the planned work under this scheme has been completed across the city. Mayor Hakim has now promised that the remaining 60% of the pending tasks will be fast-tracked and completed within just one month.

The project, envisioned by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, aims to resolve localized civic issues such as minor drainage repairs, drinking water pipeline glitches, street lighting, and road patchwork at the grassroots level. Addressing the media, Firhad Hakim stated, “The core objective of this project is to provide immediate relief to citizens for their day-to-day problems. While we have successfully achieved 40% of our target, the remaining work will now be executed on a war footing. I have directed all departments to ensure that every pending task is cleared within the next 30 days.”

Sources within the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) noted that administrative delays and tender processes had slowed down the progress in several wards. However, with the election season approaching, the Mayor is leaving no stone unturned to ensure zero pendency. Councilors and engineers have been instructed to monitor the sites daily. If the KMC manages to pull off this ambitious goal, it will bring a massive sigh of relief to thousands of city dwellers dealing with persistent local issues. Whether this ‘one-month challenge’ can be realistically achieved remains to be seen, but the Mayor’s proactive stance has certainly set the wheels in motion.
