Massive RPF Crackdown Ahead of Bengal Polls, Lakhs in Cash and Foreign Currency Seized!

In view of the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has intensified its vigil across railway premises under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Recent operations at Howrah and Shalimar stations have led to the recovery of substantial unaccounted cash and foreign currency, marking a significant success in curbng illegal activities.
During a routine search at Howrah Station, RPF personnel intercepted an individual carrying ₹3,60,000 in unaccounted cash. In a separate raid at Shalimar Station, foreign currency worth ₹23,63,865 was seized from another suspect. Both individuals and the recovered assets have been handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further investigation.
Expanding their crackdown, RPF teams also seized large quantities of cannabis from various locations, including 9 kg at New Jalpaiguri (valued at ₹4.5 lakh), 16.9 kg at Hatia (valued at ₹8.45 lakh), and a massive 37.5 kg haul at Tatanagar Station worth ₹18.75 lakh. These coordinated efforts underscore the RPF’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment and preventing any illicit influence during the crucial election period.
