Panic gripped South Kolkata’s Bondel Gate area on Sunday evening after a massive fire broke out at a local garage near Kustia crossing. The blaze, which reportedly started in the scrap material stored inside the garage, quickly spread, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky and triggering alarm among local residents.

Emergency Response Upon receiving the alert, five fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot. Local police from Kasba station also arrived to manage the crowd and clear the path for emergency vehicles. Firefighters are currently battling the flames to prevent them from spreading to the adjacent residential buildings.

Current Situation The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though officials suspect a short circuit or a spark near inflammable materials. While there have been no reports of casualties so far, the fire has caused significant damage to the garage premises.
