Massive administrative shake-up, WB’s DGP and Police Commissioner replaced.

Following the midnight shuffle of the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary, the Election Commission has now replaced the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Kolkata Police Commissioner. The decision came after a thorough review of the state administration by the Election Commission.

Under the new directives, Siddhinath Gupta will replace Piyush Pandey as the new DGP of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Ajay Nand has been appointed as the new Kolkata Police Commissioner, replacing Supratim Sarkar. Additionally, Ajay Ranade has been tasked with the role of ADG (Law and Order).

This sudden and significant administrative overhaul, issued via an official notification, marks a major shift in the state’s police leadership. These newly appointed officers will assume their respective charges effective immediately, as per the Commission’s mandate.
