‘Mamata is Just Showing a Trailer!’ Dilip Ghosh Sparks Row Over Muslim Appeasement Remarks

Firebrand BJP leader and candidate from Kharagpur Sadar, Dilip Ghosh, has stirred a major political controversy with his latest remarks on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s “pro-Muslim” policies. Speaking during the preparations for Ram Navami in Kharagpur, Ghosh alleged that the current state of affairs is merely a “trailer” and the real threat to the majority community would emerge if the TMC manages to retain power.
“What Mamata Banerjee is doing right now regarding the Muslim community is just the tip of the iceberg. If she returns to power by mistake, it will be impossible for Hindus to live in Bengal,” Ghosh claimed in a blistering attack. He accused the Chief Minister of systematically suppressing Hindu festivals to appease her core vote bank. Dilip Ghosh further alleged that the TMC administration is providing a safe haven for “radical elements” in the state, which is compromising regional security.
On the issue of Ram Navami processions, Ghosh was defiant, stating that the devotees, not the police or the government, would decide how the festival is celebrated. He accused the state machinery of trying to incite communal tension by imposing unnecessary restrictions on religious marches. While the TMC has dismissed his statements as “desperate communal polarization,” Ghosh’s rhetoric has intensified the ideological battle in Bengal ahead of the polls. His “Trailer vs Movie” analogy has now become the focal point of a heated debate between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress.
