The Jajpur District Police have cracked the sensational murder case of meat trader Saumya Sagar Samal, arresting five individuals, including his wife, Shubhashree Behera. Jajpur SP Yashpratap Shrimal confirmed that the murder was a cold-blooded execution planned by the wife and her paramour, Tapas Kumar Khilar.

The investigation revealed that Shubhashree, who worked at a beauty parlour, had married Saumya 18 months ago after a love affair. However, she continued her illicit relationship with Tapas even after marriage. When Saumya confronted them and opposed the affair, the duo decided to eliminate him. On the night of the incident, while Saumya was returning home, Tapas and his associates intercepted him and opened fire.

Police have arrested the mastermind Tapas from Rourkela along with his sister Priti, who allegedly provided funds to purchase the murder weapon. Shubhashree’s siblings were also apprehended for their involvement in the conspiracy. Three police teams were formed to solve the case, which has sent shockwaves across the region due to the calculated nature of the crime.
