Life Lost in Lift Trap at RG Kar, While SSKM Staff Found Hanging! City in Shock

The healthcare fraternity in Kolkata is under heavy scrutiny following two tragic incidents at the city’s premier government hospitals—SSKM and RG Kar Medical College.

At SSKM Hospital, the body of a 21-year-old contractual cleaning staff, Imran Sardar, was found hanging on the third floor of the New OPD Building. Since the door was locked from the inside, police suspect it to be a case of suicide. An investigation has been launched, and the body has been sent for post-mortem to clear the air regarding the mysterious circumstances of his death.

Simultaneously, a horrifying accident unfolded at RG Kar Hospital’s Trauma Care Building. A resident of Nagerbazar, who had come for his son’s treatment, died after being trapped in a malfunctioning elevator for nearly 90 minutes. His grieving family alleged that despite desperate screams for help, no hospital staff responded. They further claimed that the lift had been faulty for days and no liftman was on duty at night. These incidents have sparked massive outrage among the public, raising serious questions about the maintenance and safety protocols at state-run medical facilities.
