The internet was recently set ablaze with rumors that Karan Johar is finally bringing a sequel to his 2001 cult classic, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Fans were ecstatic at the thought of seeing Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor reunited on the silver screen as the iconic Raichand family. However, filmmaker Karan Johar has officially put these speculations to rest.

In a recent interview, Karan clarified that there are no plans for ‘K3G 2’. “The news is completely false. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is not just a film but an emotion for many. I don’t want to mess with those memories,” Johar stated. He emphasized that some classics are best left untouched, as recreating that original magic is often an impossible task.

While this might be disappointing news for K3G loyalists, Johar did offer a silver lining. Following the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, he is working on a massive family-centric project. The script is reportedly finalized, with pre-production slated for mid-2026 and filming to commence by the end of that year. Regarding his other ambitious project Takht, Karan mentioned that it remains on hold for now. Fans may not get a sequel, but a grand new saga filled with love and family values is definitely on the horizon.
