‘Jawan’ & ‘Pathaan’ Records Shattered! ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Creates History with Massive Day 1 Box Office Collection

The box office has a new undisputed champion! Aditya Dhar’s espionage epic ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (Dhurandhar 2), starring Ranveer Singh, has rewritten the record books on its opening day. Released on March 19, the film has achieved what no other Bollywood movie could—crossing the ₹100 crore net mark in India on a single day. The frenzy surrounding the sequel has completely overshadowed the previous milestones set by blockbusters like ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Animal’.
As per industry trackers, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ minted a jaw-dropping ₹102.55 crore net in India on Thursday alone. When combined with the ₹43 crore earned from Wednesday’s paid previews, the total domestic net stands at a staggering ₹145.55 crore. Globally, the film is performing like a juggernaut, raking in approximately ₹236 to ₹240 crore gross on Day 1. This makes it the second-biggest Indian opener of all time, trailing only behind Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.
The film, featuring a powerhouse cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, has defied its long runtime of nearly 4 hours to draw massive crowds. With the festive boost of Eid and Gudi Padwa, the Hindi version alone contributed ₹99.10 crore to the tally. By smashing ‘Jawan’s’ record of ₹75 crore and ‘Animal’s’ ₹64 crore, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has firmly established itself as a cultural phenomenon. Analysts are now predicting that the film might cross the ₹500 crore mark by the end of its first weekend.
