“It Stayed by Mistake”! Shatrughan Sinha Removes Blue Light After BJP’s Outcry in Jamuria

TMC’s star MP from Asansol, Shatrughan Sinha, found himself in the eye of a political storm on Sunday night in Jamuria. Allegations of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) surfaced after he was spotted campaigning for TMC candidate Hareram Singh in a vehicle fitted with a blue beacon and the National Emblem (Ashoka Stambh).

BJP’s Jamuria candidate, Bijan Mukherjee, raised strong objections, stating that using government symbols or beacons during electioneering is a direct breach of EC guidelines. “The TMC has no respect for rules. An MP is flaunting power under police protection while the code is in effect,” Mukherjee alleged, adding that he would formally complain to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and consider legal action.

Reacting to the controversy, Shatrughan Sinha played down the incident, calling it an unintentional oversight. “I am a disciplined politician and have been in public life for years. The blue light remained on the vehicle unknowingly,” the MP claimed. Following the backlash, the beacon was reportedly removed from the car. However, the opposition remains firm, accusing the TMC of trying to intimidate and influence voters through such displays of authority.
