Fuel Price Relief Amid War Tensions! Check Today’s Petrol and Diesel Rates in Kolkata and Other Cities

Despite the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel pushing global crude oil prices beyond the $100 per barrel mark, retail fuel prices in India remain unchanged today, March 15, 2026. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have decided to keep petrol and diesel rates steady, providing significant relief to consumers who were bracing for a price hike due to geopolitical instability in the Middle East.

In Kolkata, petrol continues to retail at ₹105.41 per litre, while diesel is priced at ₹92.02. In the national capital, Delhi, petrol is available at ₹94.77 and diesel at ₹87.67. While international volatility has led airlines like IndiGo to introduce additional fuel charges on flight tickets, the central government has managed to absorb the cost pressure on automotive fuels for now.

City-wise Rates (Per Litre):

  • Kolkata: Petrol ₹105.41 | Diesel ₹92.02
  • Delhi: Petrol ₹94.77 | Diesel ₹87.67
  • Mumbai: Petrol ₹103.54 | Diesel ₹90.03
  • Chennai: Petrol ₹100.93 | Diesel ₹92.39

India’s strategy to diversify its crude oil sources and maintain a steady supply from Russia has acted as a buffer against the disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. However, energy analysts warn that if crude prices breach the $130 threshold, a domestic price revision might become unavoidable in the coming weeks.
