A major controversy has erupted in Chanchal, Malda, involving a migrant couple who was recently brought back from Delhi with the intervention of the Trinamool Congress. Muktar Hossain and Sajenur Parveen, once showcased as victims of political displacement, are now being accused of orchestrating a reign of terror in their locality.

According to local reports, the couple is allegedly using their proximity to high-ranking TMC leaders as a tool for intimidation. Residents claim that Muktar and Sajenur frequently brandish photographs of themselves with TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee to silence any opposition. The couple is accused of threatening locals and creating an atmosphere of fear, claiming they have “unlimited political backing.” While the TMC had previously championed their cause as a victory for migrant rights, these new allegations of hooliganism have put the local leadership in a tight spot. The opposition parties have been quick to react, demanding an immediate probe into how “protected” individuals are being allowed to harass common citizens under the guise of political patronage.
