From Patna to Parliament, Nitish Kumar Starts New Innings, Big Changes Await Bihar Government

In a move that signals a massive tectonic shift in Bihar politics, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha today. The oath was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan in New Delhi. With this, the “Sushasan Babu” of Bihar is set to transition from state leadership to a prominent role in national politics.
Having been elected to the Upper House in March, Nitish Kumar has already resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council. Sources within the JDU suggest that he will soon tender his resignation as Chief Minister, paving the way for the BJP to appoint its first-ever CM in the state. Following the NDA’s landslide victory in the recent assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the dominant partner in the alliance.
At 75, Nitish Kumar leaves behind a legacy of transformative infrastructure and educational reforms in Bihar, though his frequent shifts in political alliances remain a point of debate. While supporters claim his presence in the Rajya Sabha will fast-track Bihar’s development through better central coordination, the opposition labels it a move that creates instability. All eyes are now on Patna as the NDA prepares to announce a new successor to lead the state.
