‘Forget Hitler-Titler!’ Mamata Banerjee Slams Centre Over Names Missing from Voter List

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a scathing attack on the Central Government and the Election Commission over the recently released ‘Supplementary Voter List.’ In a fiery speech, she alleged that names are being deliberately and selectively removed from the voter lists to fulfill a political agenda. Drawing a sharp comparison, she stated, “Forget Hitler and others; what is happening now is far more dangerous. They are identifying specific names and deleting them from the records.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amidst the ongoing process of voter list revision in the state. Mamata Banerjee expressed deep concern that legitimate citizens, particularly in specific pockets and border areas, are being disenfranchised under the guise of technicalities or document verification. She cautioned that any attempt to manipulate the democratic process through the voter list would be met with fierce resistance from her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Political experts suggest that by using the term ‘Hitler,’ Mamata is aiming to project the current central administration as an autocratic regime. She urged her party workers to remain vigilant and conduct door-to-door surveys to ensure that no supporter’s name is wrongfully omitted. This issue of the ‘Supplementary List’ has now become a major flashpoint between the State and the Centre, with the TMC planning to take this battle from the streets to the legal corridors. As the state gears up for future polls, the fight over the sanctity of the voter list is set to intensify.
