“Fear of Poll Defeat!” Dharmendra Pradhan Slams Opposition Over ‘Energy Lockdown’ Rumors

Amidst rising global tensions and the buzz around a potential “Energy Lockdown” in India, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has issued a stern response to the opposition’s claims. On Friday, Pradhan categorically denied any possibility of a lockdown, stating that those who are staring at a political defeat are deliberately trying to incite fear and panic among the common citizens. He clarified that the country is well-prepared to navigate the current global uncertainties.

The term “Energy Lockdown” started trending recently following reports of supply chain disruptions in West Asia, leading to speculation that the government might restrict fuel and electricity consumption. Dismissing these as mere rumors, the Minister assured that India has strategic reserves and a robust plan in place. “The country is not heading towards a dark phase. Under PM Modi’s leadership, we have ensured that our fuel stocks are sufficient to meet domestic demands,” he noted.

Directly attacking the opposition, Pradhan said that spreading misinformation has become their last resort. He emphasized that the recent reduction in central excise duty on petrol and diesel is a testament to the government’s commitment to shielding the public from international price volatility. He accused rival parties of creating a “manufactured crisis” to gain electoral mileage.

Pradhan further highlighted that India is diversifying its energy portfolio, reducing its over-dependence on imported crude through green hydrogen and renewable energy initiatives. He urged people not to fall prey to social media hoaxes or political propaganda regarding a shutdown. With the Minister’s firm reassurance, the government aims to calm the markets and ensure that economic activities continue without any hindrance despite the global West Asia conflict.
