Flight Ticket Price Hike: Airfare May Soar from April 1 Amid Middle East Conflict; Check Details!

Air travel is set to become more expensive starting April 1, 2026, as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to disrupt global oil supplies. The rising cost of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) is forcing major airlines to reconsider their pricing structures, leading to a projected hike in ticket fares for both domestic and international routes.
The Impact of Global Unrest: Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has indicated that the impact of rising fuel costs will be clearly visible from the start of the new financial month. Since ATF prices are reviewed on the first of every month, the anticipated surge is expected to be passed on to passengers. The ongoing conflict in West Asia is cited as the primary driver behind this sudden economic shift.
Airlines Implementing Surcharges: Leading carriers like Air India have already begun implementing phased fuel surcharges on various routes. Akasa Air followed suit, announcing additional charges for new bookings as early as March 15. Despite the looming price hike, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has reassured the public that India has sufficient energy reserves to tackle long-term disruptions. While prices may rise due to international market pressure, the government has guaranteed that there will be no shortage of fuel supply and that all refineries are operating at full capacity to ensure seamless connectivity.
