“Don’t Visit Now” – Stranded Tourists Warn as Massive Landslides Paralyze Lachen-Lachung Route

A dream vacation has turned into a nightmare for over 1,000 tourists, including a significant number from West Bengal, who are currently stranded in Lachen, Sikkim. Heavy snowfall and sudden landslides have cut off major routes, leaving travelers stuck in freezing conditions.
The Indian Army, along with the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and ITBP, has launched a massive rescue operation. Due to severe blockage on the main Lachen roads, authorities are diverting and rescuing tourists via Doklam, Zero Point, and Lachung.
Local administration has urged families not to panic as soldiers work tirelessly to clear the Lachen-Donkyla-Shiv Mandir stretch. A stranded biker, Bhola Sheikh, warned potential travelers that it might take 2-3 months to restore normal connectivity. For assistance, the government has released helpline numbers: 9907956705 and 03592281007. The rescue mission continues in full swing to bring everyone back to Gangtok safely.
