Diplomatic Win! Iran Allows Indian Oil Tankers Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz
March 12, 2026
In a major strategic breakthrough, India has secured safe passage for its oil and LPG tankers through the volatile Strait of Hormuz. Following high-level discussions between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, Tehran has permitted Indian vessels to navigate the world’s most critical maritime chokepoint without hindrance.
While ships from the US, Europe, and Israel continue to face restrictions and threats from Iran’s IRGC, Indian tankers ‘Pushpak’ and ‘Parimal’ are reportedly moving safely. Given that nearly 31% of the world’s oil flows through this narrow 55-km waterway, this diplomatic success ensures India’s energy security remains uninterrupted despite the escalating regional conflict.
