BJP’s Mega Pre-Poll Promise: ₹3,000 Monthly for Women and 5-Year Age Hike for Jobs!
Hours after the Election Commission of India announced the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election schedule, the BJP unleashed a massive list of promises to counter the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). BJP leader Samik Bhattacharya, in a high-octane press conference on Sunday, announced that a BJP government would provide ₹3,000 monthly to women, directly challenging the TMC’s popular ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme.
Age Relaxation for Job Aspirants Addressing the long-standing grievance of the state’s youth regarding recruitment delays, Bhattacharya stated that the BJP would grant a 5-year age relaxation for job seekers in state government services. This move is seen as a strategic play to win over thousands of aspirants who have been protesting against the state’s hiring policies and legal complications in recruitments.
Targeting the Core Vote Bank By promising ₹3,000 per month, nearly double or triple the current allowances under existing schemes, the BJP is aiming for a major shift in the female voter demographic. Political analysts suggest that these “guarantees” are part of the BJP’s ‘Sankalp’ to provide a viable alternative to Mamata Banerjee’s welfare model. With the state set to vote on April 23 and 29, the battle for the Nabanna throne has officially reached a fever pitch.
