Big Pay Hike for Central Govt Employees! 8th Pay Commission Meeting on April 13

The long-awaited update on the 8th Pay Commission is finally here. The Drafting Committee of the National Council is scheduled to meet on April 13 to finalize the draft recommendations, marking a significant milestone for over 1.2 crore central government employees and pensioners.

The spotlight remains on the fitment factor and the revision of the minimum basic pay. Reports suggest that the minimum salary could soar to over ₹46,000, while the minimum pension is expected to cross the ₹25,000 mark. While the 7th Pay Commission utilized a fitment factor of 2.57, experts anticipate a jump to 2.86 in the new commission. If approved, this move could skyrocket the minimum pension from ₹9,000 to approximately ₹25,740.

The Ministry of Finance has already simplified the process by launching a portal for feedback. The upcoming meeting on April 13 is crucial as it acts as a bridge between the government and employee unions to resolve structural uncertainties. All eyes are now on this high-stakes meeting that will define the financial future of central employees.
