BCCI Cracks the Whip! New Strict Rules for IPL Players to Avoid Heavy Fines

The BCCI has introduced a series of stringent regulations for players during the ongoing IPL season to ensure better on-field discipline. The new rules specifically target the movement of substitute and reserve players during live matches. Under the updated guidelines, only the 16 players named in the official team sheet are permitted near the field of play for tasks like carrying drinks or relaying messages.

In a move to reduce congestion around the boundary, the board has mandated that a maximum of only five substitute players can stay near the boundary ropes. The remaining members of the 25-man squad must strictly remain within the dugout and are prohibited from loitering near LED boards or the boundary line. These changes reinforce Clauses 11.5.2 and 24.1.4 of the existing playing conditions. BCCI has warned that any violation of these protocols will result in significant financial penalties for the players. This disciplinary framework will remain in effect for the remainder of the tournament.
