The political atmosphere in North Bengal has hit a boiling point following the announcement of the 2026 Assembly Election schedule. Taking the lead in the hills, the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM), led by Anit Thapa, has officially announced its candidates for the three crucial constituencies: Darjeeling, Kurseong, and Kalimpong.

Securing the Hill Stronghold Anit Thapa, a key ally of the ruling TMC in the hills, is leaving no stone unturned to consolidate his influence.
