Avoid Queues, Book Online! Ministry of Petroleum Issues Calm Advisory Over Cooking Gas

Amid global energy supply concerns arising from the West Asia conflict, the Government of India on Monday issued a strong reassurance that there is no shortage of domestic LPG in the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas advised citizens to avoid standing in long queues at distributorships and instead utilize online booking platforms for seamless delivery.

Decline in Panic Bookings: Recent government data revealed a significant drop in “panic bookings,” which fell from 88.8 lakh on March 13 to 77 lakh on March 14. This shift indicates that public anxiety is easing. Furthermore, online bookings have risen to 87%, showcasing a preference for digital refills through WhatsApp, SMS, and mobile apps.

Boosting Supply & Diversifying Sources: To tackle the situation, the government has mandated refineries to maximize LPG yields, leading to a 36% surge in domestic production. Logistical relief is also on the horizon, with two major vessels—Shivalik and Nanda Devi—carrying over 92,000 metric tonnes of LPG expected to dock by March 17. The government reiterated that household supplies remain the top priority and warned strictly against hoarding and black marketing.
