Assembly Election Dates Out! State to Vote in 2 Phases: Check Your District’s Schedule
The Election Commission of India has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly Elections in the state. To ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process, the commission has decided to conduct the polls in two distinct phases. This announcement has set the stage for a high-decibel political battle between the major stakeholders.
Phase 1 Details: The first phase will primarily focus on the western belt and the Jangalmahal region. Districts like Bankura, Purulia, and Jhargram will go to the polls in this segment. The administration has emphasized high security in these areas to prevent any untoward incidents. Special drones and paramilitary forces will be deployed for 24/7 surveillance.
Phase 2 Details: The second and final phase will cover the urban heartlands, including Kolkata and its neighboring districts, along with the northern part of the state. These regions are traditionally known for high voter turnouts. The commission has introduced several digital initiatives this year to help voters locate their polling booths and check their names in the electoral rolls seamlessly.
District-wise Overview:
- Phase 1: Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram, and West Midnapore.
- Phase 2: Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, and all districts of North Bengal.
Strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is now in effect across the state. Political parties have already shifted into high gear, finalizing candidates and launching door-to-door campaigns. Voters are encouraged to carry their EPIC cards or approved alternative identity proofs to the booths.
