Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata late Friday night for a high-stakes visit aimed at intensifying the BJP’s campaign for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. On Saturday, Shah will formally release a ‘Chargesheet’ or an ‘Arogyonama’ against the Trinamool Congress government, highlighting its alleged failures and corruption over the last 15 years. This document is expected to serve as the primary weapon for the saffron party in the upcoming poll battles.

The 14-Point Chargesheet According to party sources, the chargesheet meticulously lists 14 major areas where the Mamata Banerjee-led government has allegedly failed. Key highlights include:

• Scams and Corruption: Detailed mentions of the School Service Commission (SSC) scam, ration distribution irregularities, and coal/sand smuggling cases.
• Security & Law and Order: The document focuses heavily on the safety of women, citing incidents in Sandeshkhali and the RG Kar Hospital tragedy.
• Economic Mismanagement: Allegations regarding the non-implementation of the 7th Pay Commission for state employees and the diversion of central welfare funds.

Strategic Pivot The BJP has strategically decided to release the ‘Chargesheet’ before its manifesto, ‘Sankalp Patra’, which is expected in early April. The plan is to reach every household with this list of allegations to build a narrative of “anti-incumbency” before offering their own promises. During his visit, Shah will also chair a core committee meeting with senior state leaders to finalize the roadmap for the first phase of polling starting April 23. While the TMC has dismissed the move as a desperate attempt by the BJP, political analysts believe Shah’s visit will significantly energize the party’s grassroots workers across South Bengal.
